Kinsale is 1 1/2 hours from Richmond and 2 1/2 hours from Washington, DC. Coming from Washington, DC, or other points north, our recommendation is to travel via 301 through Southern Maryland (in lieu of I-95 south in Virginia).

By car: 5 minutes to Backdraft, 10-20 minutes to Relish (our favorite), Tim’s at Coles Point, Coles Point Tavern, Los Portales, Callao Coffee & Cafe, Rice’s Hughlett Tavern in Heathsville, 25 minutes to Angelo’s in Montross or NNK Burger in Tappahanock, 45-50 minutes to a variety of restaurants including Tommy’s in Reedville and Trick Dog Cafe in Irvington.

Shopping:
We are 12 minutes to Callao where you will find the Callao Supermarket which is known for its excellent meats, great beer selection and deli counter. Across the street from Callao Supermarket is The Health Nut which has organic and gluten free offerings and smoothies. Also in Callao is the ABC Store, Mosaic Consignment & Gifts) and RW’s the best sporting goods store on the Northern Neck. 5 minutes past RW’s is Allison’s Ace Hardware in Lottsburg. Visit Garners for fresh fruits and vegetables. You can buy terrific steamed crabs just up the road directly from our local watermen. Fresh fish can be purchased in Warsaw or Montross at Faunce’s Seafood. There is a Food Lion in Montross, Heathsville and Warsaw, which has plenty of additional shopping . If in Warsaw, check out Colonial Collectibles and The Klothz Patch two great little boutiques and gift shops. After shopping, treat yourself at Michelle’s Sweet Treats. There’s a Tractor Supply in Warsaw as well. Tappahanock is a 1/2 hour away and has a Lowe’s and Walmart.
The Bottom Line - Rental Rates:
$90 per night for up to two people, with two night minimum. $605 per week. Cleaning Fee is $65. Additional charge of $15/night for each additional person (up to 4 people max utilizing the two bedrooms). Three night minimum and pricing @ $115/night applies for holiday weekends.
The House is fully furnished and equipped. When you arrive there will be fresh linens and towels. The kitchen has pots/pans/utensils and basics.
