Kinsale is a historic colonial port located on the Yeocomico River in Westmoreland County, on Virginia’s Northern Neck. The area is rich with history and traditions.
The Northern Neck is the birthplace of George Washington, James Madison, James Monroe, Richard Henry Lee, Francis Lightfoot Lee and Robert E. Lee. Learn more about the Northern Neck as the cradle of our nation’s democracy via The Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society. Watermen continue to earn a living harvesting crabs and oysters. Conveniently located, Kinsale is close to Stratford Hall, George Washinton’s birthplace, Reedville Fisherman's Museum and other major attractions. Spend a day fishing on a charter boat, take a day trip to Smith Island or Tangier Island. Go to Westmoreland State Park and kayak below the cliffs or hunt for sharks teeth. Visit Belle Island State Park and go bird watching. Play golf nearby. Spend a day antiquing in Kilmarnock, or hit the Northern Neck Wine Trail - all are within 15 to 45 minute drive from Kinsale.
